Celebrating Women's History Month

Women’s History Month Spotlight: Shirley Gauthier

Shirley has spent a lifetime advocating for people and making a meaningful difference in the world of social nudism.

Shirley often says, “No matter my age or my size, my skin has always been far more comfortable than any piece of clothing I’ve ever found.”
Through AANR, she believes people have a wonderful opportunity to recreate nude with like-minded individuals.
As Shirley explains, “Camping and hiking nude in our national forests is the ultimate gift I give myself.”

Shirley is widely respected as a mentor. Shirley takes the time to guide others and explain why things are the way they are, helping people gain not only knowledge but also the confidence and connections to continue the work themselves.

A passionate nudist, Shirley continues to share her story and travels throughout the United States connecting with others and promoting the values of social nudism.

Her dedication, leadership, and mentorship continue to make a positive impact in the nudist community today.

AANR has honored Shirley with the following awards:

Thank you Shirley for your years of giving of yourself so others can enjoy the ultimate gift of nudism and all the benefits that affords.

I have heard it so many times. "I hate my body."
Many women never learn to love themselves or their body. I was one of them! I have always hated my body, no matter my size.
That is until I became a nudist.
Once I let go of my negative thoughts and focused on only the positive, my self-esteem skyrocketed. One of the goals of WINR is to inspire and empower women to see themselves in only a positive light.
Women In Nude Recreation, WINR, is associated with AANR, the American Association for Nude Recreation.
Each region of the country has WINR representatives working together to make sure women enjoy the comfort and safety of nude recreation.

Another goal is to insure women of every age, shape, and size learn to love themselves exactly as they are, to essentially go from self-conscience to self-confident.
